AverfoldPreview pilot · Windows

A small test with ordinary files

Protect. Open. Verify.
See where you pause.

Try a fictional project note, keep the original, and follow your copy through Averfold. Then tell us which parts felt clear and which needed explanation.

The minute is a demonstration script after setup, not a speed promise. Take as long as you need.

Before the demo

Choose your starting point.

Use a Windows PC with Averfold Preview installed. Read the version in Help > About; a different Preview may use slightly different labels.

You already have Standard

Try all three actions

  • Check Help > Licence to confirm Standard is active.
  • Extract the sample pack. Locate samples/project-note.txt.
  • Create separate folders for protection and restoration. Keep the restore folder empty.
  • Choose a fresh, sample-only passphrase for the copy you create. Keep it to yourself.
You have the free Verify edition

Start with Open and Verify

You can test the recipient experience without buying a licence. Use recipient-demo/project-note.averfold from the pack.

This disposable sample has a deliberately public passphrase. It protects no private information.

public sample river paper kite only

Never reuse this passphrase for personal or work files. Protect requires Standard; this pack does not issue or install a licence.

Averfold Preview has not received an independent security audit. Use these fictional samples, retain the originals, and keep separate copies of anything important.

A one-minute demonstration

One note. Three visible outcomes.

Keep the app open beside this guide. Use Continue to move through each action, then read the result before moving on. For the free route, begin at step 2 with the supplied protected sample.

01 / PROTECT · 0–20s

Create a protected copy

  1. Choose Protect and select project-note.txt.
  2. Enter and confirm your sample-only passphrase. Leave optional recovery-key creation off for this short demo.
  3. Pick a new destination, review it, then choose Protect and save.
Look forProtection complete, a new protected copy, and the unchanged original.
02 / OPEN · 20–40s

Bring the note back

  1. Choose Open and select your protected copy, or the supplied recipient demo.
  2. Use the matching passphrase. Select a separate empty folder outside the samples folder.
  3. Choose Authenticate and restore. Read project-note.txt inside that folder after completion.
Look forOpen complete. The final text line should read PAPER KITE 01.
03 / VERIFY · 40–60s

Check without restoring

  1. Choose Verify and select the same protected record.
  2. Enter its passphrase and review the action. No restore destination is needed.
  3. Choose Verify complete item and read the integrity result.
Look forProtected-record integrity: PASS. This check should not create another plaintext copy.

Your local checklist: 0 of 3 outcomes checked. Skip Protect if you are testing the free route.

What does a passing result mean?

Verify authenticates the protected record. A pass is not proof of the author's identity, a creation date, or legal ownership. Comparing the restored sample's SHA-256 with the original separately checks that the bytes match.

The original sample remains your reference. Avoid deleting either copy during the pilot.

My version looks different, or the sample does not open

These labels and sample records were checked against the current 3.0.2-preview.1 source. Acceptance by your installed Microsoft Store version has not been verified in this pack.

If your file picker only lists .nvc, select recipient-demo/project-note.nvc. It is a byte-for-byte copy of the same demo record with the earlier filename ending, not a different encryption format.

If the record is still rejected, stop that step. Note the app version, the action, and a short error description without full paths or private details. Never send the record or passphrase to explain the problem.

I have no Standard licence, or I made a mistake

Use the free Open/Verify route above. Pilot licence allocations are arranged separately; no complimentary licence is promised by this pack. Do not try to buy one through this page.

A wrong passphrase is not a request to reset anything: retry carefully with the passphrase for the record you selected. If output already exists, use a new protected filename for Protect, or a different empty folder for Open. Keep your existing files.

Your experience is the useful part

Describe the workflow,
not your files.

There is no sign-in and no submission to a server. This form builds a text draft in this page. Download it, review it, and choose whether to share the text with the person who invited you.

Do not include passwords, recovery keys, licence files, protected or restored files, full paths, screenshots, customer names, or confidential content. The pilot does not need them.

Answers are not saved between visits. Refreshing or closing this page clears the draft.

An early look, not a purchase

A practical Windows pilot.

Standard is listed at £49 one-time, including applicable tax. The product page currently says paid checkout is being prepared. Free recipient access covers compatible Open and Verify workflows.

This pack does not collect payment, issue licences, or promise a complimentary allocation. It exists to test whether the workflow earns a place in your routine.
